BIOGRAPHY: ABOUT BARBARA
Barbara Boldt has a profound dedication to the arts, is one of British Columbia's most respected artists. She has private collectors as far away as Dubai and Germany.
As well as being a full time painter for many years, Barbara has operated several galleries, including:
• 'Studio 3' in Fort Langley from 1981 to 1982
• 'The Atelier Academy' in White Rock, BC. from 1982 to 1986
• 'The Barbara Boldt Studio Gallery' in Fort Langley, from 1986 to present
Barbara's career as an artist started at the age of 45. With a family background of art appreciation and an active involvement in the arts in Europe, she fully realized the importance of expressing herself visually. Being a realist and with her keen awareness and appreciation of nature, painting sandstone formations has helped to feed her ongoing fascination with natures abstract forms, challenging her abilities and fulfilling her need to "sculpt" a painting.
"Since 1975, Barbara has been a dedicated painter, creating memorable images of British Columbia's unique landscape".
From her successful series "EarthPatterns" to her local images and floral work, Barbara focuses on the ever changing face of Nature's creations.

BIOGRAPHY: STATEMENT
Art has always been in my life, although the opportunity to start painting did not present itself until 1975. With a family background of appreciation and an active involvement in the arts in Europe, I fully realize the importance of expressing myself visually.
My need to paint in a realistic manner is part of my nature. My technique depends on my ability and understanding of the medium. Events in my life, be they joyful or traumatic, influence my choice of subject matter and have formed my philosophy.
I respect Nature as my most eloquent teacher. I learn to understand myself and my relationship to Her rhythms and cycles. With this awareness and knowledge I paint rock and sandstone, landscape, forest, flora, and human form, satisfied that my feelings and experiences have found an avenue of expression.
To me, Art is more than painting, it’s a way of thinking, a way of life. It is finding meaning, and searching for the essence in existence. I am a realist in many ways, seeing things the way they are.
Painting sandstone formations, part of my “Earth Pattern” Series, helps to feed my ongoing fascination with Nature’s abstract forms, challenges my abilities, fulfills my need to “sculpt” a painting. I marvel at the power of the wind, water and marine life that have created these unbelievable formations.
"Stone becomes Sand through the power of Water
Sand turns to Stone and preserves the evidence
Of Life which grew from it.
Living Earth is created from Dying Growth,
And so the Balance is attained
And the Cycle complete."
EarthPatterns, 1987
