DAUGHTER'S EYES - MOTHER'S HANDS - New Series in Progress
"Daughter's Eyes, Mother's Hands" series, an evolving collection of work that speaks of the connections between mothers and daughters.
In the years since my daughter, Dorothy Forbes, died in 2000, I have sought ways to honour Dorothy and to keep connected with her.
An artist herself, Dorothy took photos of the beauty she saw in the world. When she died, I was lucky enough to be given her photographs.
Daughter's Eyes, Mother's Hands, begins with these images from Dorothy, these glimpses of the beauty she saw in the world. From this start, and with my "mother's hands," I have tried to move forward on a journey of interspersing my technique and vision with my daughter’s world to create paintings that blend the artistic vision of both of us.
